#WhatsInMyPotWednesday: Polka Dot Plant

Welcome back to #WhatsInMyPotWednesday, y’all! This week I am going to talk about another new plant I acquired recently! Before the world got a little scary, and when Penn State switched to remote learning I went out for some retail therapy.
I stumbled upon an adorable polka dot pitcher on clearance at Marshalls (score!) My immediate reaction was to use it as a pot for a plant. I love this trend of using unconventional items as plant pots, my favorite go-to is reusing Bath & Body Works candle jars!
For this week I am going to talk about my Polka Dot Plant! It’s pretty self-explanatory how it got the name. It’s beautiful colors of reds and pinks against the dark green leaves make it stand out so much! It was only fitting that I put this in my polka dot pitcher.

This plant can grow as tall as 6 inches and grow out about 7 inches! It is best to place the Polka Dot Plant in partial shade to ensure it will thrive! As with the last #WhatsInMyPotWednesday plant, the symbol of the Polka Dot Plant is also very relevant during this time, representing patient waiting. During this time of uncertainty it is very important to practice patient waiting for what is coming next.
It is especially important to note that this plant is non-toxic to your pets! The Polka Dot Plant requires average watering needs, but you must not let the water accumulate in the soil or its leaves wilt, if I notice this happening I make sure to put it in a spot where it will get some sunshine.

As always, if you have more than one plant, it is helpful to get all your plants on the same watering schedule so you can knock it all out at once! My favorite watering day is Sundays!
I hope this post finds you well, stay safe out there!
xoxo, talk soon!
